The Magic of DIY - Purses!!

~ Inspirations ~

Alexander Mcqueen Clutch hmmmm love it!!

Hey Loves!
Wow I just wanted to say THANKYOU!! Thanks for all your comments
My last outfit post had 19 comments, that's incredible!
So thanks :)

So last night I did a little thrifting and came home with two awesome bags!! Well they were sort of ugly but definitely amazing DIY material!!
They were both under $5 dollars.

The first one I did was a dove grey bag, quick ugly initially. I wanted to stud the flap in the shape of the union jack (pictured above)
The first thing I did was cut off the thick leather strap.

I roughly drew with pencil the lines that I would need to stud.

I then started to stud along the longs using different
types of studs for different parts of the flag.

The centre of the lines I used a smaller stud and spaced them out.

I studded until just over where the flap bend so
it would look completed and not cut off.

After all the studding I added a simple chain as a new handle.
The bag is totally usable as a purse or a clutch and I LOVE the finished results!
It took about an hour and a half to complete and it is definitely a work out for your
lil fingers! They get pretty bruised! haha but the results are soo worth it!!

The studs I got from an ebay store. They have really
good prices and are super good quality.
Alot better than any craft store..

The second bag I DIYed was so much easier! lol
This bag already had a lot going for it. I loved the shape - its super structed,
and totally fifties style. It was gorgeous white snakeskin so in for spring!
The only thing that cheapened the bag was the ugly handle.

That was a simple fix, however. I cut it off and instead
attached this amazing belt I also thrifted for 4 dollars!

It has this absolutely gorgeous floral detailing along a third of it
and the rest is just a gold chain and matches the clasp perfectly!

I love how it adds so much interest from the back of an outfit!
What do you think?!

I'd love to hear your thoughts!!

  1. I love em; especially the 50s style bag. As a little girl I used to borrow a similar one from my Mom's closet. I love your own take on both bags.
